The American Elections
The 2012 American elections took place in the sixth day of
November. The motto of the Americans this time round was to pick a president
and not a party. It was the 57th presidential election in the United
States of America. According to the polls, it was a close race between the
nominee of the Democratic party, President Barrack Obama, who had Vice
President Joe Biden as his running mate and Governor Mitt Romney with Congressman
Paul Ryan who is from Wisconsin.
In the election campaign, there were three major
presidential debates and one major vice-presidential debates. They were greatly
awaited by the American citizens especially those who had not quite decided on
who to vote for. The issues which were mostly debated on include national
deficit, jobs and the ecomony, social policy, foreign policy and immigration.
The betting markets had President Obama as the clear winner.
However the statistics showed that the race was too close to predict who would
become the president of United States of America this term. The day after the
final elections were held, Governor Mitt Romney at around 1:00 am had gained
the states of Indiana and North Carolina which Obama had won in 2008 narrowly.
President Obama and his running mate were the overall
winners of the 57th presidential elections. The election of the
President was carried out together with the Senate elections as it is written
in the constitution of the United State of America. One third of the Senaters
had to face re-election in the final counting of the votes. Many world leaders
praised and congratulated President Obama for his victory. Pakistan commented
that it was safer for their state that Mitt Romney had not won the election. In
Kenya, Obama’s grandmother, Sarah Obama was the leder of the celebrations as
President Obama was being sworn in for the second and final term in office.
Venezuela is one of the States that had mixed reactions.
However, there was a peaceful environment during the Americal elections and
also after the elections as a result of the loosing candidate accepting defeat
and the elections being held in a free and fair way.
