LOVE IS IN THE AIR

Well well, I finally did it; through the help of God I finally was able to complete the video to my very first single, LOVE. The reason why I sang that song is that I was tired of people claiming to sing “gospel” in this land yet every day I have to fight an element of tribalism, greed, class or prejudice in the country. Mercy Opande, a gospel minister who wants to go deep/PHOTO/MERCY OPANDE Yes there is joy in the Lord but for that joy to be full, Kikuyus must love Luos unconditionally. Kalenjins should love Luhyas. People should start singing about the truth. Truth is even some of our churches are tribalistic, oh yes, the elders or the pastors are of a particular tribe or even class. This does not apply in rural areas. Am I  lying when I say there are churches when you have a car, a good job and money you easily become a pastor or elder? Jesus commanded us to love. He loved so much that He died. To me it is a shame when a secular band can sing about abortion wh...

Of Larry and Ghafla; Arrogance or Ignorance

Well if there is a weakness in me it is that I cannot pretend to like a person when the sight of them drives me crazy but one thing that I have also learnt is that being ignorant of who the other person is can lead to wrong assumptions. Let me say it then, I don’t like Larry Madowo and I do not watch his show nor read his column or listen to his radio show. Larry Madowo; Alot of Kenyans have reacted to his claims about bloggers/PHOTO/NAIROBI WIRE.COM Most people will say that this feeling sprouts as a result of jealousy but no, am not jealous because of his “ success” am just worried about the assumptions he makes and how it is getting to his head. Being a trained journalist, from Egerton University, I was trained that the values of news are the 5WH who, what, when, why, where and how. Another thing is that the journalist is not supposed to be part of the news. Also in this era of social media, journalists are tweeting and blogging but they share ideas and knowledge. The...

Kenyan Lady is the Best Teacher in Texas

A Kenyan lady working in the United States is one person that we should all celebrate. As South Africans are busy killing, looting from and chasing foreigners, children in Texas see a heroin in this Kenyan. Annie Mucheru-Garza was named this years teacher of the year by the Corpus Christi Independent School District. Annie Mucheru-Garza/PHOTO/JAMBONEWSSPOT.COM She is a 32 year old and she has been working at Garcia Elementary School for three years now. In 2010, Annie participated in Donald Trump’s popular reality show, the apprentice and she was third overall. She is an alumnus of Brookhouse School Nairobi. She teaches the fourth grade class and does so through a unique method of combining lessons with IT. Annie was given the award because she was found to be the best example of innovation, passion and determination. She inspires everyone around her and generates in them a passion for learning. Ms. Mucheru will also be featured in the teacher of the year banquet a...

#JukumuLetu, An Initiative to get Kenyans to read the constitution

It was a busy Saturday afternoon for Nakuru residents this past weekend when #JukumuLetu initiative was launched. Good music from the Sarabi band led by one talented vocalist, Nelson Mandela Akello, was really what you could say refreshing while others were simply making noise and that is the real truth. JukumuLetu Launch in Makueni/PHOTO/CHARITY NZOMO Wait, there was this artist from Makueni, he was not all swaggy but he was the real deal and he brought the house down, ok he brought Nyayo Gardens down. The way he played that guitar was fabulous and for once I danced to ukambani music thinking that Carlos Santana was the guitarist. Residents were informed on how it was important for them to get to know what their constitution says since ignorance is bliss for those in power. If they sleep on the job you cannot hold them accountable without being knowledgeable. Various issues affecting the county were showcased through puppets for example the recent fighting among MCA’...

OH NEREA; ANOTHER ONE FROM SAUTI SOL

Well it is Friday and as Larry Madowo says, you know what it is. Well today he will be hosting one of the best bands in Kenya, Sauti Sol as they launch their new single, Nerea. Nerea is a song about a man pleading with his girlfriend not to abort his child and the song has raised a lot of concerns. Sauti Sol, Kenya's leading band/PHOTO/pbs.twimg.com Why would a girl want to abort? Well the answer is that obviously the man must have rejected the pregnancy and so she sees the only way out as abortion. Yes it’s true that children can grow up to amaze us but men need to stand up. Sauti Sol, Amos and Josh have really done a good job but they left the song hanging. Nerea does not want to abort; she wants someone to assure her that if she carries the pregnancy to term, then the man responsible must be ready to help her through the thick and thin. The man says bring my child, I will bring up the baby on my own. Truth is most men cannot without involving another woman w...

I am Happy Despite a B in KCSE

I was index number 2 in high school and I believed that I had what it takes to get an A. There was high expectation from teachers, friends and guardians to the point that when the results were released, they bought newspapers only to find my name missing. Then came the hour of reckoning when I called my school and was told I had a B-, at first I heard that I had a D- and really got a heart attack then the teacher sent a text to clarify everything. Success is not about grades/PHOTO/LIFTUPIDEAS Of course I was not happy with my grade but I was thankful. After staying 2 years before joining secondary school I finally did it. Getting a grade that was not my expectation wasn’t the end for me, I mean my life is still going well and I even have friends who got D’s and are doing better than me. I joined campus after 7 years and am completing my studies in December this year plus I got an internship at one of the leading media houses,(Standard Media Group) in the country and my...

How to Cope in a Difficult Environment

There is no such thing as utopia, this is the real world. God is good but the world ain’t fair. So you are in a difficult or unfriendly environment and you feel like you are going to throw in the towel the next day? Well sit tight and buckle up because I am going to share some practical things that have worked for me and I made it. 1.     Watch your tongue You came there and found them so they know better than you. This simply means that you keep out of the cheap politics. Simply agree to everyone who calls you aside but keep your comments to yourself. Judas was with Jesus even to the last meal and had to betray Him with a kiss simply because he looked like Him. The person to betray you looks just as you. 2.     Follow the rules Yes the rules give you a pain in the ass but who do you think is having it easy. Toe the line. It is better to be told that you are sucking up but truth is rules rule. Difficult situations can take a toll on anybod...

#Justice for “Liz”

She was only 16 years and had just attended her grandfather’s funeral. On her way back home six men attacked her and raped her. She was gang raped till she bled and became unconscious. That was in June 2013. After finishing their dirty work, the rapists dumped her in a pit latrine and left her to die. Apart from the psychological injuries, Liz now has to use a wheel chair and also suffers from fistula. Justice for Liz/PHOTO/KENYA TODAY What made the world cry for her justice? Well Liz was raped by minors who then after being reported to the police, the minors were told to cut grass as punishment. Really is that really sane, for a police officer in his right mind to be the judge, jury and executioner that a rapist deserves to slash grass? This is what sent many human and women’s rights groups all over the world appending signatures seeking justice for Liz. And the culprits were apprehended and the trial begun unfortunately they were only given 15 years...

Bring Baby Jeremy Home

There is baby with a great future in Nakuru Town and that is why despite the hospital bill which over a half a million Kenya shillings, baby Jeremy can still afford to smile. The matron in charge has stated very clearly that they are not going to release Jeremy until the bill is cleared. Baby Jeremy/PHOTO/JAMES WAKIBIA. The baby has been in  the hospital since December 18 last year and since his mother cannot afford to pay up, her baby has to get used to the hospital corridors as home. Many Kenyans have taken to social media to demand the release of Baby Jeremy but it seems the matron of this hospital could give Margret Thatcher a run for her money. The matron says that the hospital is a nonprofit institution and they need the money to keep things running. Baby Jeremy’s mum is in the process of acquiring a paybill number so that well-wishers can donate money towards clearing the hospital bill.

AFRICA KILLS HER SON; XENOPHOBIA IN SOUTH AFRICA

“We pledge ourselves to liberate all our people from the continuing bondage of poverty, deprivation, suffering, gender and other discrimination.” Nelson Mandela Those are the words of the world's greatest statesman. if only he could wake up and see how the rainbow nation is raising up in smoke. The same nation that many African nations offered help to while suffering Apartheid is now vomiting on the same brethren. One can only say thank  heaven for taking Madiba before he saw this great shame. What is wrong with you South Africans? A man sacrificed his entire life trying to convince the white man that you were able to rule yourselves and stand up on your feet. Right now it is like all that Madiba did was USELESS. Nelson Mandela/PHOTO/ATLANTABLACKSTAR Do not go around running in SOWETO or Johanesburg during his memory because you are hypocrites. Mandela received support from many African nations and this is one of the reasons you are free. You think you are to...

Willy Paul verses Bahati; who is clean?

I know that Bahati accused Willy Paul of stealing his song but I will say it as it is, Willy Paul is more vocally talented than Bahati and this time around he actually sang a song that has the word. Willy Paul, Kenya Gospel artist who has been accused of stealing songs/PHOTO/Nairobiwire.com   Truth is there is no difference between the 2 singers, they both have commercialized the gospel so when one accuses the other, its the pot calling the kettle black but I still believe that better the devil we know in Willy Paul than the " angel" in " mamaz boy. Let us be fair and not judge, these are 2 young men who need to be moulded by real spiritual fathers like Arthur Gitonga, JB Masinde...... not Music spinning Dj's. I say so because I believe that if Jesus came around when we were all saying how bad Willy is, He would write on the ground and say he without sin, cast the first stone. None of us know Bahati and Willy on a personal level, we  only know them as  f...

We Hunger for True Gospel Music

The kind of gospel music being played in Kenya today really worries me. Yesterday I had to listen to several songs to confirm that some of the gospel artistes do a remix of secular artistes. I do not think that this is brought about by lack of creativity but love of money. I usually look at Kari Jobe’s, Chris Tomlin’s, Newsboys, Lecrae’s and many other gospel artists’ concerts and one thing that stands out is that none of them takes away the glory that belongs to God. The hunger for God is real but be weary of the junk being served as gospel music/PHOTO/Courtesy Look at Kenya, we start well but before we know it, we want the good life and so instead of singing songs inspired by the Holy Spirit, we sing songs inspired by hunger, pride, greed, fame, the world’s way of thinking. At the end of the day its not Jesus who is Glorified but dancing styles, who shot your video and who produced the audio. Am not saying am any better because I love RnB and HipHop and Rock but when i...

Uhuru Kenyatta has Started the Wilderness Journey to the Kenyan Canaan

The bible says that we should pray for our leaders in government and it also says that we should obey the government since there is no authority that exists without God allowing it. Kenya is now experiencing a blessing in disguise. Corrupt leaders, ministers, governors and many others are being exposed for their dark ways. Mr President, Uhuru Kenyatta, I know you may not be one of my blog fans but Sir, I have always admired you. Do you remember that there was time you wanted to avoid a presidential debate? But I told you to go and attend the debate so that you can face whatever demons and have nothing to hide. President Uhuru Kenyatta/PHOTO/IKnowToday Sir, thank you so much for starting the journey to rid Kenya of graft but sir there is something that I and other Kenyans want to report. Sir, in public hospitals, service is for those who know the nurses and the doctors. You make a line after coming early but someone who comes late will signal the nurse and they will walk ...
