The 3 days that Kenya became a nation
The coming of the American
President, Barack Obama was more of a homecoming; it was the rebirth of a
nation. Every Kenyan had something to look forward to. There was no Kamau, Otieno
or Wambua. There was only one word on our lips and that word was Obama.

Kenyans have always being
taking to the streets when they do not feel like doing something but this time
they totally agreed not to use certain roads and their children did not go to
school because a great man was coming to town.
It was obvious that we all
owned a piece of POTUS and our very own PORK was more than happy to host the
son of the soil. As Kenyans we were not hosting an American President, we were
welcoming back one of us, a man with Kenyan blood in his veins.
Question is why do we always
trade insults at each other simply because we are of different ethnicities? Who
in their right mind chose their tribe? Who taught themselves their mother
tongue? None of us did that but we chose to hate and then one great son of the
land who has all sorts of races running in his veins came to remind us that our
tribal attitude is useless and in vain. Instead of hating why not celebrate? He
is now gone but will the state of nationhood that was in the country for the
three days that we had him last?
Let us become a nation by
celebrating the things that bring us together. Let us celebrate the presidency.
Yes he might not please everyone but truth is that he too is a son of the soil,
who represents each and every Kenyan. He too did not choose to be of his tribe
but still he serves all the tribes.
After three days, the son of
God rose again, it is only hoped that after the three days that POTUS was here,
unity will rise again in Kenya.
