How To Write a Good Article
It is said that the pen
is mightier than the sword and for an article
writer this simply means life or death on the frontline.
Keywords
The first thing that an
article writer should work on is the
keyword. Do proper research since the direction and purpose of the article is
dependent on it. Use the keyword
sparingly at least once in every paragraph unless stated otherwise by the
client. Do not just throw your keywords into the article without having them
blend in with the flow. Ensure that your keyword is a natural fit so that the
reader is not surprised by its presence but rather reads it as part of the
whole article.

Tone
From keywords the next
thing to check on is the tone of the article. An article writer must be flexible enough to write to every kind of
audience but when it comes to tones, there are two; professional and friendly.
Ask yourself who are your audience and what is the purpose of the article?
Scientific topics will always bend on the professional side as compared to
topics about love or leisure which require a friendly tone.
Sub titles
Everyone is now
targeting the internet for first-hand information but they also go there in
order to get that information very fast. An article writer should break their article into sub titles whereby
those who do not want to read the introduction can dig straight in and get what
it is they are looking for. You are dealing with a spoon fed audience used to
fast food, fast cars plus fast news and sub titles make that happen.
Titles
The way you dress is
how you will be addressed. The same can be said about your article, if it is
not dressed in a catchy title then it is as good as finished. Do remember that
the keyword should always be part of the title for instance if the keyword is
eat fruits, then the title can be “This is why you should eat fruits.” Online
research shows that people are attracted to anything that starts with who,
what, why and how since they feel like they are going to learn something new.
The 5 WH rule
The 5 WH rule is
usually the rule that all newspaper journalists abide by but it can also be
used by an article writer. It is
who, what, where, when, why and how. As a writer you must explain what or who
you are talking about, what they do or is used for, where can it be found, when
did it get introduced to the market, why or what are the benefits or cons and
how can it be accessed? There are different ways of handling the rule but
capturing all the elements means that your readers’ appetite will be satisfied
and they will be coming back for more.
Grammar
Kindly ensure that you
serve your article dressed in good grammar and the correct punctuation. Read
the article to yourself aloud and see if it makes any sense to you because if
it doesn’t, then do not expect it to make sense to your reader.
Lastly do not expect to
be a good writer in a day, you only write your way to writing. So keep writing
as you use the ideas above and before you know it you will have a feather in
your cap.
